BADEF Development Foundation runs this website. This page explains what happens to your information when you read it, write to us, comment on an article or make a donation.
One
The whole policy in four lines.
This policy describes what this website actually does, checked against the site itself rather than copied from a template. If anything here does not match what you see, tell us and we will correct it.
One cookie
This site sets a single cookie, pll_language, which remembers the language you chose. Nothing else is written to your device.
No tracking
There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no session recording and no consent wall, because there is nothing to consent to. We do not build profiles of visitors.
Your message stays with us
Enquiries sent through our forms are stored on this site and emailed to BADEF staff. They are never sold, rented or passed to anyone for marketing.
We never see your card
Donations are completed on PayPal systems. Card and bank details never reach this website.

Four situations account for everything this site collects.
When you send us a message
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, a subject and your message. Organisation and location are optional. We also record the IP address the message was sent from and the time it arrived.
The name, email and message are needed to answer you. The IP address and timestamp are kept to limit automated spam. The message is stored on this site and emailed to BADEF staff.
When you comment on an article
WordPress stores the name, email address and comment you submit, together with your IP address and browser identification string, which help with spam detection.
If you tick the box to save your details, WordPress sets cookies so you do not have to type them again.
When you simply read the site
Our web server keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses and the pages requested. These are ordinary hosting records used to keep the site running and secure.
Our login protection plugin records failed attempts to sign in to the administration area, including the IP address they came from.
When you donate
The payment is completed on PayPal systems. We receive confirmation of the amount and the programme area you chose, and whatever contact details PayPal passes to us.
We never receive, handle or store your card or bank details. PayPal handles your payment information under its own privacy policy.
We keep enquiries until they are no longer needed for the purpose they were sent, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time. We do not use any of it to advertise to you.
One cookie, and who else is involved.
There are no advertising or analytics cookies on this site, so there is no cookie banner asking you to accept them.

Other organisations involved
- Google Fonts. Our typefaces are served from Google, which means your IP address is visible to Google when a page loads. No cookie is set by this.
- PayPal. Used only on the donate page, and only once you continue to pay. PayPal then handles the transaction under its own terms.
- YouTube. Where we publish a film, it loads in privacy enhanced mode and nothing is requested from YouTube until you press play.
We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta or advertising pixels, heatmap or session recording tools, or third-party comment systems.
Ask us what we hold, or to delete it.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can withdraw your consent for us to keep an enquiry, and you can ask us to remove a comment you left. Write to info@badef.org and we will answer as quickly as we can, and tell you if we need longer.
