What working with BADEF looks like.

Districts that are hard to reach
BADEF works across seven states and territories of Somalia and in neighbouring countries in East Africa. Published programme records cover Lower Juba (Afmadow and Dhobley) and Lower Shabelle (Marka and Kurtunwarey), with child protection work in Mogadishu and Baidoa and an office in Kenya. Programmes run where the need is, including places where access is the first problem to solve rather than an afterthought.

Counted where it happens
Participants and the relevant line departments evaluate each project on the ground. Regional offices consolidate the monthly returns into quarterly reports, so the figures a funder receives are the ones the field produced.

Designed with the community first
Projects are shaped by what communities identify as the priority, which is why conflict management is built into agriculture, health and education work rather than run as a separate programme.
