World Breastfeeding Day 2026 was commemorated in Somalia with a significant milestone: the signing and launch of the Somalia Breast-milk Substitutes (BMS) Regulations. The event brought together government representatives, development partners, and organizations committed to advancing maternal, newborn, and child health.
The launch of the BMS Regulations represents an important step towards creating a supportive environment for breastfeeding and strengthening the protection of breastfeeding practices in Somalia. The regulations aim to support responsible practices related to breast-milk substitutes and contribute to better health outcomes for mothers and children.
BADEF was honored to participate in this important occasion alongside esteemed partners, including UNICEF and the Government of Sweden. Our participation reaffirmed BADEF’s commitment to promoting maternal and child health and supporting initiatives that contribute to the well-being of mothers, newborns, and children across Somalia.
