BADEF

Terms

What you may do with what is here.

This site is run by BADEF Development Foundation. Using it means accepting the terms on this page. They are short, and most of them exist to protect the people in our photographs rather than to restrict you.

Using our material

Read it, quote it, pass it on.

Almost everything on this site exists to be read and passed on. These terms mark the small number of places where you need to ask us first, and the places where using our material would misrepresent the people in it.

You may

  • Read, print and share pages for your own use, or inside your organisation.
  • Quote short passages in reporting, research or teaching, provided you credit BADEF Development Foundation and link back to the page you took them from.
  • Link to any page on this site, without asking us first.
  • Download and circulate documents we have published, in the form we published them.

Please do not

  • Present our material as your own, or edit it so it says something we did not say.
  • Use our name, logo or photographs to suggest that BADEF endorses you, your product or your organisation.
  • Collect money, sign up volunteers or solicit personal information while presenting yourself as BADEF or as acting on our behalf.
  • Harvest the site automatically, or use it in a way that degrades it for other people.

Text, photographs, documents and design on this site belong to BADEF Development Foundation or are used with permission. If you want to reuse something in a way these terms do not cover, write to us. We generally say yes.

Photographs

The people in our pictures agreed to be photographed by us.

Our photographs are taken in clinics, training rooms and displacement camps. The people in them are identifiable, and many of them are children or survivors of gender-based violence. They agreed to be photographed by BADEF, for BADEF, and that agreement does not transfer to anyone else.

  • Do not reuse photographs of identifiable people from this site without written permission from us, including in reporting, fundraising material, presentations or social media.
  • Do not crop, caption or place an image in a way that changes who the person appears to be, what happened to them, or what programme they took part in.
  • Do not use images of children from this site in any circumstances without asking us first.
  • If you are working on a story and need cleared photography, ask. We keep images that people have agreed can be used more widely, and we will send those instead.

If you believe a photograph of you or of someone you are responsible for should not be published here, write to info@badef.org and we will take it down while we look into it.

Donations

Where your money goes, and who may ask for it.

Donations made through this site are processed by PayPal. The payment happens on PayPal systems under PayPal terms, and your card or bank details never reach this website.

  • Gifts are used for the programme area you selected, or where the need is greatest if you chose that option. If a programme is already funded we will tell you and ask before moving your gift.
  • If you sent a gift in error, or a monthly gift you meant to stop, write to us. Monthly gifts can also be cancelled by you at any time from your own PayPal account.
  • We publish what we receive and what we spend. If you want the detail behind a figure, ask us for it.

If someone asks you for money in our name

BADEF collects donations through the donate page on this website and through agreements signed with institutional funders. We do not ask for donations through personal bank accounts, personal mobile money numbers, or direct messages on social media. If someone approaches you claiming to raise money for BADEF and you are unsure, contact us before sending anything.

Practical terms

Comments, accuracy and outside links.

  • Comments and messages. You are responsible for what you send us or post on an article. Keep it lawful and civil. We may edit or remove anything abusive, defamatory, or which identifies a programme participant without their consent, and we may do so without notice.
  • Accuracy. We work to keep this site correct and current, and we correct things when they are wrong. Figures are updated as programmes close, so a page may describe a position that has since moved on. Documents may be revised or withdrawn.
  • Availability. The site is provided as it is. We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
  • Links to other sites. We link to partners, funders and our own channels elsewhere. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.
  • Changes to these terms. We may update this page. The date at the top of the page tells you when it last changed.
Questions

Ask us rather than guessing.

If anything on this page is unclear, or you want to reuse our material in a way it does not cover, write to us rather than guessing. Permission is usually straightforward.
