A health centre can only respond to gender-based violence if the people staffing it know how. Clinical care for survivors is time-sensitive, protocol-driven work, and it does not come as part of general nursing training.

In collaboration with the Somalia Humanitarian Fund, BADEF delivered CMR training to nurses and midwives working in gender-based violence health centres within Afmadow District of Lower Juba Region.

The training follows the facilities. Where BADEF has established centres that receive survivors through referral, this is what makes those referrals worth making.
